Like all Model 870 shotguns, this workhorse features a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength and reliability. The silky-smooth twin action bars prevent binding and twisting so you'll always have the chance to get off a second shot. Because young shooters are more likely to become stewards of the shooting sports if they are initiated with a gun that fits properly, the 870 Express Compact features a shorter LOP and barrel length than standard 870s for proper balance. It has a durable, synthetic forend and buttstock with sling swivel studs, adjustable LOP (to 1"), and a SuperCell recoil pad for a comfortable shooting experience. These compact 20 gauge models have a 21" vent rib barrel, single bead sight, and Modified Rem Choke. This item has a black stock and matte non-glare metal finish.

Solid reliable shotgun. The 870 has been user by professionals for many years for a reason.

This is my the first shotgun I've ever owned. I hit the clay pigeon with my first shot aprx 60 ft away. Also, I've never fired a shotgun before in my life. This is a great starter shotgun in my opinion. There's only a front sight shot on this gun (not sure what's common). As long as its lined up right there's no issue.

remington make a nice 870. the compact express is great for brush and thick stuff(rabbits and grouse) with the shortter barrel and light weight. not to mention the composite stock and parkerized finish for all weather use. and the shot gun is priced right too

Great for home defense. No need for the 12 gauge. Bought two pieces of sheetrock and used them as a target at 15 yards away. # 4 Turkey load 3 inch magnum went through both pieces together. Glad I did that test.
