Receiver, lever and trigger guard plate are CNC machined from 416 stainless steel forgings.

Barrel is made of 410 stainless steel and is cold hammer-forged which results in ultra-precise rifling that provides exceptional accuracy and longevity.

Threaded barrel, with factory-installed thread protector, has a 11/16" x 24 pattern to accommodate a muzzle brake or other barrel accessories.

Updated Picatinny rail provides a stable mounting surface for scope rings and a variety of modern optics.

Ghost ring rear sight is adjustable for windage/elevation and tritium fiber optic, high visibility day/night front sight allows for quicker target acquisition in low light.

Six-round, tubular magazine with a loading gate located on the receiver.

Soft-rubber buttpad effectively absorbs recoil.

Positive, push-button, cross bolt manual safety and traditional half-cock hammer.

Reliably feeds a wide range of .45-70 Govt factory ammunition and bullet types.

Durable, laminate buttstock and forend remain dimensionally stable in varying weather conditions.

Sharp checkering provides an excellent grip in all weather conditions.

Spiral-fluted, nickel-plated bolt aids smooth cycling.

Oversized lever loop provides clearance for operation with heavy gloves.

I've wanted this rifle ever since I saw the rating on the old Marlin website that said it was rated for a T-Rex. Finally decided to buy it. Fit and finish is superior. Shoots anything I run through it, from cowboy loads to Garrett +p's. Totally my new favorite. Buy this gun. You will not regret it.

the Marlin 1895SBL that I received had some cosmetic issues that I was sort of unhappy about. First off, there was a glob of some sort of hard substance on the tip of the barrel, just below the bore opening. I had to use a mini pick to pry it off. Secondly, there are two separate blems on the butt stock of this rifle. As much as I hate to say it, they are manufacturing defects. The rifle works as it should, but my concern is that if Marlin's quality control team didn't catch what I just described, then who's to say what other issues they may overlook? If you decide to buy one of these new Marlin Lever guns, make sure that you inspect it well for any issues.In my case, the rifle functions properly, but the QC team didn't catch the blemished butt stock or the hard glob of glue(?) that was left on the tip of the barrel. This gun is amazing! It’s light, solid fit and finish, and short in the most perfect way; perfect for hiking the woods. It’s got that smack ya with a frying pan kinda knockdown power. I was stuck between getting a 30-30 or 45-70 for hunting, but settled on this beauty due to its versatility and the 150 year history of the 45-70 caliber. Im so happy I did. Knowing I can hunt nearly any target species with the amount of spank this beast deals out feels simple incredible. If you like freedom and American history grab yourself one. You won’t be disappointed!
