Savage arrived as described however did have fluted barrel. Not very accurate out of box but by following torque instruction for stock install, got him to shoot moa. Actuality shot one hole for 3shots using varmint express ammo.

The rifle is very nice and very handsome. It arrived in perfect condition. The photo on the Bud’s site shows two forward sling mount studs but there is only one. The magazine hangs up and you often have to hit it back in and push the release a second time to get it out. Other than that it fits and feeds fine. There were no problems with feeding or firing. The trigger is excellent. I lightened it to about two and a half pounds. It is crisp and nice. The barrel is free-floated with a lot of space between the stock and the barrel, but not so much as to be unsightly. The barrel is deceivingly heavy. It doesn’t look like it would be as heavy as it is. It makes me glad it’s fluted. The rifle tops ten pounds with a Nikon Prostaff 5 scope on it – without bullets or sling. After a lengthy breaking-in process the gun shoots fairly well. Using handloads worked up for another .223 with 55 grain SP Sierras, it’s shooting consistent ¾ inch groups at 100 yds. It might do better with some loads developed for the gun. This makes the sixth time I've used Bud's, and it was the slowest delivery of them of them all. I ordered a rifle three weeks before Christmas and it arrived at the FFL in two days. This time, in the off season, it took a week. The gun arrived in good condition and shipping was free -- no complaints there. Guess I was just a little spoiled from their previous quick service. I would recommend this rifle to a friend.
