Absolutely beautiful piece. The etchings and engravings are a nice touch. It’s a small pistol so it’s good for conceal carry but it can be a pain to grip if you have larger hands. I’ve only shot 38 special through it. You will experience a lot of recoil with a 357 magnum due to the short barrel. It’s nice to display and comes in a nice mahogany box. Mine didn’t have a Hillary hole which is unusual nowadays. I think it was a good buy.

Gorgeous gun, straight and smooth shooter. It has a short barrel so expect some recoil. The presentation box is beautiful - I didn't know it was included so it was a pleasant surprise. It came shipped in a different box. This is the kind of beautiful gun that used to be much more common. Get it while you can. It's a great desk gun, couch gun, lap gun, etc. My wife loves it.

After my house was robbed and my Smith and Wesson .357 revolver was among the items taken, I knew I needed to replace it quickly. Thank goodness I had good homeowner`s insurance that covered full cost replacement. I compared the different models and chose the S & W Model 640 because it was beautiful with the engraving, but also because of it`s smaller grip and barrel length which will lend to putting nicely beside my bed. The grip is small but fits female hands very nicely. I have hunted and shot for fun for the past 40+ years so I am no beginner at guns. Bud`s treated me well and my purchase was completed quickly and without problems.

Pros: Great shooter Good looking weapon Easy to Clean Fires every time Cons: Repeated shooting with original grip will leave hand sore Small Grip Had to upgrade to larger grip to prevent further damage to hand after 300 rounds, takes a while to get use to sight picture and accuracy. Perfect for concealed carry or purse carry. Shooting 357 out of small J framed weapon makes it more exciting and tough at times on the hand.
