Richard, Lot of good scope rings on the market. I would find a good scope (3 to 9) or (4 to 12) power scope and get size rings that match the scope tube. Just make sure you lap the rings and get everything level and tight.

The ARmOptics from Bushnell are great. Get the 308 version. I solely use Vortex rings so I recommend them highly sir.

Richard - I suggest that first, you identify exactly what you want to do with your M1, then buy your scope accordingly. I'm partial to Vorex products, and they have scopes that pretty much cover the field, price and quality wise, from modest to high. Of course, the standards like Leupold are good too. Pick the power scope you'll need to accomplish what you want to do, then buy the best scope and mounting system you can. Then, unless you have experience in mounting a scope, have it mounted by a professional. You'll be glad you went the extra steps, once you start shooting that M1. Sweet rifles BTW ...

5/5 With so many "Suggested" mounts out there for the M1A, I will admit, I have 2 M1A's, and I have tried ever, single one of them. That "ARMS 18"? Is JUNK! I have one of these from my 1st M1A that I never mounted. Finally did. Instructions may be UNDER the foam in the box! THIS is the mount you want. It will say in the instructions "Do NOT use "Lock-Tite".! (B.S!) USE IT!! We used M14's in Iraq. With ACOG's. I attached mine using BLUE "LOCK-TITE" It has after over 2,500 rounds of some hefty .308, 175's 180's it has NEVER lost it's "Zero" nor came lose. THIS is the mount you want. And still allows use of Iron Sights. And Bud's? Always quick with the shipping & support! TEAM BUDS for life!

Just what I needed to reach out and touch something to 500 yard. Mounted a BDC scope on my M1A and this bracket fit perfect. Fairly easy to assemble mount following instructions and having proper tools.
