Fantastic firearm, Buds is the best place to buy for me.

I installed a Ruger square back trigger guard and long grips. I now love this gun. Better looks and better control for shooting the mighty .44 magnum.

I took me years to finally come to the decision to get one of these revolvers (44 flavor). And then when I had the money, it wasn't available! So this has been a long time in the coming. Background: I started handgun shoot with a Ruger Single Six in 1980. It was my grandfather's. I certainly shot it more than he ever did! I graduated to a Blackhawk 357 and shot it mostly as a 38. I got into 44's and bought several other revolvers (mostly S&W). I wanted to get a Ruger single action, and here we are. The grip panels (stocks) don't fit as well as I'd like, so I'll refit them down the road. It's wood after all. The barrel/cylinder gap is larger these days than I would expect at 9 thousands, not a huge problem. The cylinder end play is good (too tight and you'll play @#& getting the cylinder in and out!). The trigger needs a little polishing, maybe some lighter springs. The cocking action is a little gritty, but should smooth out with use. I'll probably stone the action to gain a quicker 'break-in', as well as lighter springs (Wolf?). There is some overtravel after the trigger break. I don't detect and stacking and very little creep. Again, to be expected from a production firearm. I'm somewhat of a trigger snob (years of shooting target guns). The quick fix is to lift one side of the trigger return spring off. The sights are adjustable, no issues there. I prefer a smaller gap between the front sight blade and rear sight notch, but this isn't a target gun. I have not had the opportunity to fire many rounds yet. It exhibits the typical single action 'stand up' in your hand upon firing. Ammo is scarce and expensive, so I'll not be plinking away with this blaster like the 22, but I'm sure this will outlast me! It is built like a tank, but balances well in the hand. If you like single action revolvers, you'd have a hard time finding a better new one at this price point. Barrel lengths range from short to long. Blued or Stainless. Pick the one you like! It's your money!

Ruger Super Blackhawk 4 5/8" stainless is a typical Ruger single action...Heavy and built like a tank! Much handier to carry than the 7 1/2" model, but probably not quite as accurate! Since I purchased the gun, I installed a Fiber Optic front sight which was easy with the pinned front sight. This is a fun gun to shoot! The weight helps with the recoil a 44 Mag puts out. What else can I say...I like it!
