This gun is built solid but the double action trigger pull and even cocking the hammer for single action were very stiff! Changed out the springs and polished the action with an MCARBO kit and now its slick and a pleasure to shoot!

This was my first purchase from Bud's and it could not have gone smoother. Great price, very responsive customer service, and super fast shipping. I chose this gun to be a combination carry/trail/truck gun. I live in the mountains of Idaho where we have wolves, coyotes, foxes, black bears, and mtn lions so I wanted something more powerful than a 38 or a 9mm. The 3 inch barrel model is, to me, the Goldilocks of carry/trail guns. My J frame S&W is too small, and the six shot Rugers are too big, but this one is just right. I received the gun about 10 days ago and have put about 120 rounds through it. The revolver is as expected from Ruger. Nicely packaged in a Ruger hard case with lock and owner's manual. Beautiful, bright stainless steel finish. The gun is surprisingly accurate with a front rest. The trigger is pretty rough out of the box (hence 4 stars and not 5) but I have dry fired it a couple hundred times and it has smoothed up a little, but it will definitely need a professional trigger job. Being all steel, it is pretty heavy so it is a pussy cat with my 38 spl handloads, but it is brutal with full house factory 357 loads.

The Ruger SP101 is a beautiful, solid firearm. It is a joy to shoot.

This pistol is awesome! Machining, lock-up, finish, how it feels all 5 stars. I would rather own this than a S&W with that silly H-hole on the frame.
