What a fantastic little revolver! Don't listen to the people that tell you the recoil with this weapon is unbearable or ridiculous. That's just simply not the case even with Full House Magnum loads. Yes it is stout, but it's manageable and if you can handle a 357 Magnum in a full size gun with max loads this will be more than tolerable. The trigger felt really good and I enjoy the large tritium front sight which is nice and bright by the way. Just a suggestion if you do purchase this gun and don't mind a slightly larger profile of grip, go with a full size J frame grip. I used laser grips and I could not be happier with my purchase. Buds has always done me well. It only took about 4 days to get the weapon in my hands at my ffl. I would certainly buy this firearm again and buy it from Buds. 100% satisfied.

So I was curious about this gun. I'm a big fan of j frames and thought this might be the ultimate. Bought mostly for reputed increased durability and sights. It is a quality weapon and I had no issues with it, but I found I actually preferred my 642 and 442. I shoot them better with the old rudimentary square notch sight versus the big for on the 340. I think the all steel barrels and yoke of the 642/442 while slightly heavier also feel and shoot better than the lined barrel of the 340. Just my opinion.

This is now my favorite EDC gun ever. I was a little concerned about recoil after seeing several reviews so I started out with some 38 special +p Gold Dots which were surprisingly very mild. I followed up with Fiocchi158 grain magnums and recoil was not bad at all. My 13 year old son was able to shoot this with the 38 special +p loads but he did stop at just one of the magnum loads! This 340 just disappears in a front pocket and conceals so much easier that any semi auto I have tried to carry. This is the most expensive handgun I have purchased but I don't think I will ever need to buy another for CCW!

After carrying this .357 it seems pointless to buy a J frame that can only shoot .38s when you have the option of either with this. High quality, fair price. The front tritium sight makes a huge difference over the old ramp posts.
