A nicely designed light weight rifle . Metal and wood finish nicely done . A nice walking rifle that will not drag you down by the end of the day . I personally do not care for the vents cut into the fore arm to save on weight . To me they just allow rain or snow to get at the barrel . But all in all a rifle nicely done .

Been looking at this rifle for a good while, reading reviews and checking them out at the gun stores. I finally decided to order one for myself, and I love it. It has good fit and finish, looks great, and shoots great. It uses the same magazine as the Axis rifles, plastic but seems plenty durable. Good part is they are a bit cheaper than the standard model 11 mags. Trigger pull is excellent out of the box, just over 3.5 lbs and very crisp with no take up to speak of. The bolt does feel a little gritty, but after some use it is already smoothing out. I'm sure the raceway could be polished up, but I think with some normal use it will become smooth as silk. Overall, I am fully satisfied with this rifle, and this was my first purchase from Buds and it went smoothly and I will absolutely buy from them again. Props to Savage Arms for producing the best rifles for the money, and props to buds for being excellent in all counts!

In case you haven't looked at one in person, the LWH looks a little different from the stock photo. The stock has machine-checkering, and there is no black cap on the forend. Also, I have not weighed this .223 version, but it feels a little more heavy than 5.5 lbs. I honestly think this might be the best hunting rifle Savage has come up with yet. The stock fits me very well, rifle is balanced well (important factor with a pencil-barrel), everything has a good looking matte finish. Trigger was no-creep 3.5# out of the box. 20" barrel is floated and is a good length for this rifle. Loaded up with 62 g TTSXs this one is a giant-killer, and it's just a little more handy package than the american classic.
