I has always wanted this rifle scince its debut, but production was paused and the supply had been all but depleted. Much to my delight, they became available again and I didn't hesitate. It is a half-minute varminter with good handloads!

Savage Model 25 in .222 Remington. Great groups right out of the box. Have tried 3 different 35 and 50 grain bullets, likes them all. Jeweled bolt is smooth. Barrel float is great, very even, 6 one dollar bills easily slide the full length. I did not think I would like that trigger but it is one of the best I have ever used. I don't hardly notice the blade in the trigger. It does make it feel like a really nice two-stage. Once you reach the trigger, there is no take-up and no after travel. Just smooth and light touch. Has to be under 3 lbs. Thicker barrel than I expected; Nice surprise. Polymer stock is a little light in the back, but it's hollow, I will fill it with something. Probably some of that liquid rubber in a can. That ought to deaden that hollow sound. From the grip forward, it is solid. Foregrip is nicely webbed for strength. Love shooting it. I have only been able to find high quality ammo for it, which I don't mind. It cost about the same as shooting the same quality in a .223 caliber. If you are looking for a gun to take to the range and burn a bunch of cheap ammo through, forget .222 Remington. buy a .22LR, .22Mag, .17HMR or a .223 instead. A .222Rem or a .204Ruger will be your best 50 to 300 yard small game rounds. This is the range where a .222 shines above all others. A .223 is better beyond 300 yards due to the heavier, boat tail bullets. I can fit 4 rounds in the mag, but it's a tight fit. Three is enough.
