What a pleasure to shoot! This is now my gun for Conceal/Carry. Trigger action is silky smooth, short reset, the felt recoil negligible. 3 shot groups at 25 yards were within three inches right out of the case. I saw no devolved accuracy when comparing the compact 3.8 40 to the full sized XDM, both outstanding handguns. The 3 Dot Sights are bright and clear. Reacquiring the target after each shot fired was fast and sure. I have medium sized hands and found the grip with the number two backstrap perfect for ease of handling and shooting. The 40 3.8 compact is tolerance tight, and with the smaller magazine very concealable. Safety features are a must and Springfield did not disappoint. I purchased this in December, 2012 and used Buds’ Layaway. Even with the gun buying craze going on, Buds shipped this within 5 days of last payment and I was able to pick it up at my FFL 2 business days later. I give Springfield Armory and Buds Gun Shop service the highest of recommendations.

this pistol is amazing. 16 round mag cap, extra mags are reasonably priced,very acurate on my very 1st pull of the trigger i hit a soda can from 50 meters. Now for durability/reliability i put over 400 rounds of winchester white box and remigton UMC hallows mixtures in about an hour with not a single jam granted the firearm was to hot to cock it barehanded the slide release fixes that issue. Overall great firearm seems lighter then my xd40 subcompact (weight distributes better to) and you dont got to squeeze the trigger to break this one down huge for perserving your firing pin durring maitnence. Very slim and easy to carry.

Now the only cons i can find to this firearm is when fully loaded the 16 round mags rattle such as the ammo seems like round 10 and 11 move around in the mag...Im shocked this hasnt caused some kind of weird jams but defiently breaks code for noise/light disipline. I even bought another factory mag locally same issue with the rattle but still no jams so i guess i cant complain to much.

Possiable imporvments if only the trigger was slightly lighter so it could be a real match pistol.

Springfield make some damn magizines that dont rattle please just very annoying.

Excellent gun. 300+ rounds not a single problem. Built solid. Very accurate. Carries and conceals easily and comfortably in an IWB holster. Recoil is a bit stout with the short mag. Not bad at all with the extended mag.
