I purchased this Savage 308 since I was looking for a mid to long range shooter. I equipped it with optics and took it to the range. After sighting it in I was extremely pleased with the performance. I was using store bought box ammo and shooting 1-2" groups at 200 tards. At 100 yards with the same ammo I could consistently enlarge the same shot. If I were to improve on the optics and ammo, this gun is capable of much more. Great quality and a recommended purchase. As always the Bud's purchase was seamless.

I purchased this rifle from Buds in March of 2012. I’m not sure if savage is making them again, or if Buds found a few long lost rifles. My rifle came with a 20 moa base and no muzzle break. The stock is the best I have seen from savage. It is very solid. I added a Karsten cheek riser and that made it perfect. My rifle shoots less than moa no problem. I have shot it out to 1080 yards and have made cold bore, first shot hits at that range. It really likes 175 grain smk’s. I’ve loaded them on top of varget and n150 with great success. Most recently started loading the eld-x on varget with success to 600. Have not been able to take them farther yet. This rifle has at least 3500 rounds through it and is going strong. I have rebuilt the bolt face due to my own negligence in hand loads being too hot. Also this is the lightest version of the accutrigger. If you bottom the lightness adjustment out, you will get some problems. If you slam the bolt home the trigger will “lock out”. Be gentle chambering rounds, or back the trigger slightly off of its lowest setting. As a target rifle this is a non-issue. When hunting and needing a quick follow up shot it can be frustrating. I backed the adjustment up slightly and that problem went away. I own many Tikka rifles, if you want a 24” target only 308, buy this guy over the CTR. If you want a 20” that is a bit lighter, get the CTR. This savage will run great on the Magpul AI mags, or the included metal one. Metal mag wiggles slightly, if that bothers you. This is a very nice rifle...

Well balanced, smooth action and can hit a fly at 800.

Great rifle waited a month or 2 to mount my vortex pst. Realized the rail was a few degrees off and called savage customer service and the sent me a shipping label asap! Shot 40 rounds thru the rifle before i sent it back and it was a great shooting gun. I work in manufacturing and a few always slip by but the good companies do just what savage did and fix it no questions asked! LOVE this rifle!!!!! Would have kept it even with the crooked rail.

Was able to purchase this speciality Savage rifle during a period of gun buying frenzy. Bud's price at $1041 was fair and under manufacturers list. From my order date to receipt of the rifle at my FFL took 14 days, which seemed to be good response time. This is my 2nd Savage rifle, purchased from Bud's Guns, during the past 3 months, and I'm very satisfied with their service, and Savage Arms' high quality, accurate and affordable rifles.

Th gun is awesome. Added all the goodies, badger rings , hawke scope, harris bi-pod. Didnt come with picatinny rail. Tried to contact buds multiple times through multiple ways and no response. Not happy about that.

Fit and finish for this price point were better than expected. Shoots very well. Even better is Bud's service. Particularly a young man named James. When I picked my rifle up at my FFL I checked the rifle/bolt for fit and function, but did not unpack the rest of the box. When I got home and unpacked the box I found I missing the picitinny rail. I called the next business day and James took care of everything with Savage. A week later there was a rail in my mailbox. The gun is good. Bud's service is awesome!

Just got it in and I haven't shot it yet... The rifle is beautiful and I almost called out of work just to go shoot it. The rifle is very well balanced and surprising light despite the heavy barrel ... This was my first purchase through buds and I will be back!

Great gun and shot 1/2 MOA. Place a millet LRS Camo finish with TPS low rings and a Savage 10 muzzle break.
