Yes Jeremy, this barrel will do a "Bang up" job with slugs! Use the 'rifled' slugs though if you're concerned about better accuracy - and I'm sure you are.

yes slugs are 100% safe in this barrel for best accuracy use rifled slugs not sabot slugs (sabots are made for Rifled barrels)

Jeremy, Yes this 18" barrel will handle all rounds even slugs. I use an 18" barrel specifically for slugs in the woods.

Perfect home defense barrel for the Mossberg 500! It's done a great job for me and have not had any issues with it or cleaning it. Shoots true and the only upgrade I did is add a fiberoptic bead for the front sight instead of the standard brass bead. I did dent the end of the gun, but it was my fault since I dropped it and it was not too serious. Shoot a couple rifled slugs out of it and it fixed itself. Would recommend!

Bought this barrel to go on a "truck gun". Fit perfect on my old Mossberg 500, that will now fit under the backseat of my truck. Perfect choice if you have and old bird gun laying around that you want to convert into a self defense weapon.

Fair price and fast shipping from Buds, but the Mossberg barrel was delivered with many finish flaws. There are numerous spots where the matte finish is worn down to the base steel. That's very disappointing on a new barrel. I understand this isn't a top tier product or a top tier price, but Mossberg needs to get control of their production, packaging and logistics chain to keep from delivering new products with the finish worn away.
