Gun works well, more fun to shoot than my 442 because you can cock it and shoot single action if desired.

We have since the 1960's used this model as either the model 38 in blue or nickel and now the model 638 in stainless steel as our primary instructional firearm in all of our classes for Concealed Carry License or Permit here in Sarasota,Florida. These firearms are so versitel as they offer the ability for single action single shots that are aimed at say a ground snake or a target. On the other hand they are quite capable of firing double action thus much faster. They only weigh about 17 ozs loaded and are highly concealable with or without a holster. We buy from BUD's as often as possible as their customer service is second to none! When they go on sale again,we will buy as many as we can for future classes.

This was a purchase for my wife of 51 years. Up till recently she's never expressed an interest in having a weapon, so I sat her down and let her run through the S&W page of revolvers and the M638 w/ pink grips (15 oz.) was her choice. Easy buying process w/ Bud's and with no shipping or sales tax made it a best buy over local dealers. She starts her CCP class tomorrow and will be firing this at the range. The pistol comes in a very durable plastic carrying case w/ an extra set of black grips plus cable and lock. Will update after shooting range if any hiccups.
