My favorite revolver.l put an oversized hammer on it.Easy to clean.I don’t like .357 recoil.l can shoot all day with this and still be comfortable.

This revolver is an excellent handgun. The grip fits a larger hand and the barrel length adds to the gun's stability and accuracy when fired. The gun is easy to load and can be quickly reloaded. I had bought another revolver from another manufacturer through Bud's. This other revolver had a shorter barrel length and what turned out to have a very small grip. The other firearm also required the use of a moon clip to load and eject spent cartridges which turned out to be slow and cumbersome. The S & W 38 is a fine handgun and I give it a high recommendation.

a very good, solid revolver. this is more or less the "standard" of revolvers......not the best....not the worst......but a good solid service revolver at a good price. the sights are fixed, however the gun shoots REALLY well.....this is aided by the weight of this revolver, its a nice chunky piece, which makes it a little heavy to carry....however it soaks up the recoil like a dream, and you can shoot this think all day without any fatigue. the trigger is on par with other S&Ws.......it is VERY smooth, however its a touch heavy in DA......SA is fine with only a touch of creep, i expect this will smooth out with more use. the factory grips are a little uncomfortable in my hands.....im not sure if its the profile or the composition of the rubber......luckily for K frame revolvers there are PLENTY of choices. now in full disclosure, my revolver arrived with an issue with the trigger, the DA Sear spring was snapped, meaning the gun would not fire in DA.....this was a quick and cheap fix for me to do, so i opted to not send it back to S&W or Buds.....but i have no doubt they would have taken care of me......this is not an issue ive ever had with any other S&W product, so i may have just gotten a lemon, and would not expect it to be the norm. this is a good revolver, and i would definitely buy it again, and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

This gun is great! Cocking the hammer is crips unlike any other revolver I have shot. The lockup on each chamber is perfect and just right! It does not weigh a lot just the right amount. I have sold a lot of my guns but I will not be selling this one for sure.

Nice piece of hardware. My first handgun, it is a decent weight. Lighter than I expected. The 4” barrel gives it a good balance. Recoil is minimal. For a S&W, the price was right, too. Will be my favorite for a long time.

This is a great service revolver. Shoots to point of aim, trigger pull is acceptable for a newly manufactured revolver, and the factory rubber grips fit my hand perfectly. A+++

This is a great gun. It looks good and feels good in my hand. I thought that the holster sights would be a problem for an old dog that was used to target sights. But, No Problem. I can shoot a 6 shoot group with all holes touching at 12 yards. This is my wife's favorite gun. It has a nice trigger break in single-action and nice smooth action in double-action. The K frame is a good balance between weight and performance.

What can I say other than it is Smith, and top quality is apparent. I wanted this firearm as a representative of a model and caliber that lawmen carried for decades. The .38 special revolver with open sights served policemen well and proved itself both on the job and in the home. The finish is great and the lockup is tight. I have a smaller hand and the grip fits me well. In my opinion an open sight is the way to go as it is the most useful for the shooting distances most folks employ. This is a fine firearm that will outlast most of it's users and will retain it's value. There is no reason to spend more on another model of Smith. This is the one.

Smith and Wesson, the name says it all. Highly accurate, especially for a 4" barrel. The stainless on this gun looks amazing.
