This was in great condition when I got it. That said, it shipped without the bakelite grips and some small accessories, which led to an argument with a rather combative customer service representative who told me thats just how it is and that if I want the parts, I need to send the whole thing back and try again, with no guarantees and a refusal to inspect the kit before shipping. That said, this was years ago. I made a public complaint and they sent me some cash to buy the parts from another source. Overall, it was a very high condition surplus pistol.

Arrived to my FFL liberally coated with cosmoline which took a couple hours to clean off however I was rewarded with what appeared to be a unissued Makarov in excellent condition. Fired thousands of rounds thru it to date and I can't remember if it had any jams. I don't think it ever failed. Good shooter!

Nice reliable gun. Shoots well, no jamming. Cleaning the grease upon arrival was a real pain, but it did preserve the gun. Like new condition.

Wonderful value. Gun arrive caked in cosmoline but once cleaned, it was in pristine condition. Fed all the makarov ammo I had run thru it with no hiccups. Easy takedown. Reliable and accurate piece of history.

This was a great purchase from Buds. It was everything described, it cleaned up great, and it's fun to shoot. It comes with a cool holster, and if you get a chance to get one do it.

Pistol appears to be new, unissued and unfired. Great that it comes with two mags, leather holster, cleaning rod, lanyard and record book. It also came with a new black grip installed on the gun. I switched it out to the traditional bakelite grip. These Bulgarian Maks are getting hard to find so if you see one come up consider getting one. Fast delivery by Buds on this one.

Great gun. Appears unissued, even magazine followers had no wear marks. Plenty of cosmoline for sure. Holster unused as well. Very tight fit. Shoots well with very manageable recoil. Thanks Buds.

Picked up the pistol, and was caked in cosmoline, no surprise there. Once I got it cleaned up, I got a chance to take it to the range. One magazine won't lock the slide back at all, the other one, once ejected, shot the slide forward. Simple fix, just had to order a new slide stop for the gun and replace it. Other than the two problems with the pistol (Slide stop, one faulty magazine), the gun fires pretty well. Only other issue I have is that it's hard as anything to just rack the slide. Perhaps that's something that will clear up over time, I hope. But it's still a good gun for the price. If given the chance, I'd probably get another one, now that I know what I'm getting into.

Received the Mak as described, cleaned it thoroughly. It looks very close to new. I shot 150 rounds of wolf through it, & had no problems. I must say, I can shoot this pistol better than several other, more expensive ones. It does have a bit of a snappy recoil, but I don't mind it. Fun to shoot. Buds gave a good deal on this.

Second bud's Makarov This one is pristine :-) No signs of wear, no scratches, and woohoo no rust. Bluing is very nice, and trigger is a tiny bit better than the first one. Included the matching log book, holster, lanyard, multi-tool, original bakelite grip, aftermarket grip, and two non matching magazines. Very pleased to get one in this condition. I was a little apprehensive of "bottom of the barrel" but turned out perfect. As always, issue free layaway process and local pick up... dang that store is crowded on a Saturday lol, pick another day if you want to look around a bit. I noticed they are listed again on the website, get one while you can

Great pistol! It came covered in cosmoline as expected but once complete stripped it wasn't too hard to get it all out. Finish was in great shape. Double action trigger pull is heavy but that was expected. Single action is very crisp. This is a very accurate gun! I was surprised how little recoil there was from the 9x18 makarov round. I hope to buy another one whenever I replenish funds again.

Good: Appears unissued, included all accessories plus matching logbook, no problems so far with an assortment of ammo including HP Problem free online layaway with local pickup Bad: Some light rust, removed with #0000 steel wool with no additional damage to bluing but minor (very) pitting on slide and light spotting elsewhere Non matching magazines (didn't expect them to match) Overall very pleased, IMHO easily meets the excellent condition for milsurp Pleased enough to put another in layaway while they were still available Considering Buds is local and has layaway, it's the best option for me.... ymmv

The pistol is covered in Cosmoline as is stated. They are not kidding. It is fairly easy to get off I discovered with Mineral Spirits. It just dissolves the grease. Wear gloves it is nasty. Rinse it in hot water and oil it up really good. The magazine is the hardest around the spring area but doable with a toothbrush. The pistol itself is awesome. The one I got looked like it had barely been used. The holster looked a little worn but you can clean it up with hot soapy water. It came with all the items described. It shoots really well. It is a bit hard to find the front sight in a range without good light. I painted white sights on mine and it helped a lot. This is a cool pistol for the money and shoots great. Did not jam one time. Buds was great as usual..

Great little pistol very happy with my purchase

First off, Buds did a fantastic job again. Ordered the Makarov on Sat. and picked it up at my FFL on Wed. The Makarov came coated in cosmoline as stated. Stripped it down and placed it on a baking sheet in the oven at 200 degrees for about 30 mins and wiped off most of the cosmoline with a rag. Then cleaned the remainder off with solvent. What emerged was a virtually brand new firearm. The blueing is flawless, the bore is bright and shiny. I don't think this weapon has ever been fired. Took it to the range yesterday and put 150 rounds through it without a single problem. At 10 yards I was hitting 2 inch groups right off the bat. At 25 yards I was picking off beverage cans 5 out of 8 shots and the misses were right beside the cans. Trigger pull in double action is a little long but smooth. in single action it is short, crisp and predictable. This is going to make a fine carry weapon. All the accessories shown came with the Makarov including the service manual and an extra lanyard. Serial number dates this Makarov to 1989. What a fine piece of cold war history to add to any collection.

Glad I got one before they sold out. My mak is in excellent condition. Hope buds gets more soon. Very cool piece of history. Beautiful design. Now I want one in not so perfect shape I don't feel guilty shooting. Thanks

First off Buds shipping is lightning fast. Ordered the firearm on New Years eve received a call from my FFL 2 business days later that is was in. Flawless transaction, thanks Buds!! The gun came exactly as described covered in cosmoline, two magazines, cleaning rod (which also is a tool for the gun) a firing log book and a very nice leather holster. I would highly suggest detail stripping as you will get to know your firearm intimately and you can be sure all the cosmoline is out of the firearm. Mineral spirits works very well!! I consider myself a novice and I was able to completely strip the gun and put back together. This was my first time buying a military surplus firearm and I can't be happier with the experience. Condition was almost flawless. Trying to decide if I'm even going to make this my daily conceal carry or put it in a display box. The thing truly is beautiful.
