I did ALOT of research looking for the perfect, reliable, and lightweight .22 for backpack hunting small game. After countless hours of comparisons I settled with the Rascal and it was far and away an amazing purchase. I was worried about the short LOP especially with the peep sights but nickel sized groups at 25 yards were extremely easy after about ten minutes of adjustment with all types of .22 ammo used (copper lead free, lead, different grain weights). The front was not hammered in completely into the dovetail but rock solid if not just a visual blemish - despite that one issue I still recommend 5/5 stars. Savage rocked it with this little 2.5 lb rifle.

Great little gun. Definitely the best youth 22 on the market.

My son and daughter love learning with this gun. I was surprised at the accuracy my children achieved. Fit and finish are nice. Good first gun.

Excellent first rifle for children. Single shot in a manageable, easy to learn platform. Adjustable length of pull would be a smart addition.

This gun fits the kids perfectly. Extremely accurate right out of the box. Easy to load and unload safely. What can I say, buds even had the color they wanted. As always, a great experience dealing with Buds Guns.

Savage Rascal green. Awesome little gun, great trigger. The only thing I can complain about would be the front sight is too far left on the barrel and the factory adjusted the rear sight inline with the front rather than centering the front post. Also the front sling swivel mount isn't turned straight. I would and likely will buy another.

I am very impressed with this little rifle. The trigger breaks very clean and crisp right at 4lbs out of the box perfect for my 7 yr old son to start shooting. I like that ability to adjust trigger for a lighter pull later on as he becomes more comfortable and proficient with the gun. The only negative is that the peep sight is very difficult to make fine adjustments and really get dialed in. That being said the sights are very effective. Once I finally go it dialed in I shot multiple 5 shot groups at 50ft that could be covered with a dime. Pretty impressive for such a small light weight gun. My son took to he rifle very quickly and after 20-30 shot was shooting nice tight groups and having a great time. Long story short, best youth single shot 22lr I have layed my hands on, especially for the very low cost with out sacrificing the high quality I've come to expect from savage.

Excellent little rifle. No cocking knob or button lock like the Cricket but still very safe. One good feature is the safety does not lock the bolt giving you the ability to clear the chamber while the gun is on safe. I would recommend this rifle for any young shooter. My son loves his!

Excellent rifle for teaching someone to shoot. It's lightweight and would be a good addition to a backpack if you are looking for a light rifle to carry. The peep sights are great. I highly recommend it.

Out of the Box Perfection... for a single shot .22. It's as accurate as I could ask for from such a Rifle, it's deceptively small but that is why I bought it. The sight is a bit crude but not bad. The accutrigger was always something I wanted to tinker with and so far I love it.
