Henry makes a great rifle, and this one was no exception. Buds was fantastic and the gun arrived on time in flawless condition. The wood is beautiful and the finish is fantastic. This model appealed to me because it was a little different from the traditional side-gate lever action. The buckhorn sights are accurate and easy to acquire. The size of this rifle is one of its best attributes. The “guide gun” style is at home with open sights, but you could easily throw a micro red dot on top for a more modern touch. My Henry has eaten all types of ammo, include my hand loads, and has been silky smooths since it left the box. Great gun.

Beautiful rifle, wood and metal are great for a production gun. Takedown is easy, as is cleaning. Factory and hot reloads will thump you. Found 14 grains of trail boss under a 340 gr cast bullet is great for range time. Heirloom type rifle. Only thing that would make it better is if it had a side loading gate

What can I say about another Henry, it's superb craftsmanship and a stunning rifle. We have the all weather version as well and that is an excellent rifle as well.

I really like how this gun handles but I'm not exactly impressed with the the finish on the wood! It chips quite easily and is peeling in several places! I expected much better quality from henry! The other problem that I have is that if the tube is full the action likes to come open while being carried but that can easily be fixed with a bit of string! Other than that it's a lot of fun!

I ordered a Henry 45-70. They sent me a work of art. The Walnut stock is the variable and mine is one of the best I've seen. Fit and finish, amazing. I don't even want to shoot it.

This is a super gun. Although I have not yet harvested any game with it. I have had it to the range several times. I never expected to get this accuracy out of the 45-70 round. But Henry made it happen. I mated it with a Nikon 40mm Carbine style scope and it is a tack driver. I consistently get 1 inch groups with the scope zeroed at 100 yds. The recoil is not user friendly. But it's manageable. The gun is heavy for a carbine and I think that helps absorb some of the recoil. Plus, it's not anything more than I anticipated from this howitzer of a round. The action is smooth as glass, the lever is solid and yet easy to operate. The fit and finish on the Henry are second to none. This is my second center fire lever gun. The first was a Browning BLR. I'm a big Browning fan, but the BLR has nothing over this Henry. I highly recommend it. Also, while I know Henry is known for the brass receivers. This gun blued with the American Walnut stock is simply beautiful. It's a keeper.

Very nicely done rifle by Henry. I went with the blued finish instead of the brass.I have an 1866 Winchester Yellow Boy (brass) so I wanted my Henry to have a little different look to it. I'm also really happy with my choice of caliber.(45-70) It is a lot of fun to shoot and the 45-70 will bring down anything North America has to offer. The action is smooth and the fit and finish of the rifle is outstanding. Tube loading is a piece of cake. Did not know how I would feel about it at first, but if you want a Henry Rifle then tube loading is just part of the deal. Buds was great to deal with as usual!

Honestly disappointed with this rifle. The sights would not stay in place, the fit and finish and accuracy were good but the action had constant problems. 60 rounds in from the factory the locking mechanism keeping the lever in place broke so I sent it back for repairs, when I got it back the very first round jammed and tried to double feed causing a dangerous situation where there was a live round in the chamber and I couldn't extract it because the lever had jammed in place due to another round being stuck under the loading gate. After some careful force was applied i removed the live round and sent it back to Henry's and have asked for a full refund. I'm going to be generous and give 3 stars because Henry's customer service was very good but honestly I'm disappointed with their centerfire lever guns.

This is my fourth Henry firearm, and all have been exquisite! This one is no exception! The wood is beautiful, and snugs to the frame very VERY well! Henry rifles are 100% made in the USA, and unquestionably the BEST lever action rifles on the current market! I dare say that they may, indeed, be the best rifles on the market period! The action is as smooth as silk with no need to lower the gun from your shoulder to cycle it for the next round to enter the chamber. The .45 - 70 is my favorite caliber in my favorite brand of rifle. I know from experience that Henry stands by their products for the life of the gun, no need to prove that you are the original purchaser. I would absolutely recommend their products! Bud's, as always, was great to deal with and they shipped this rifle to my FFL quickly. Bud's is my first choice to look for firearms.

I'm a proud owner of the 45-70 government. I was so excited when I first ordered it, but not as excited when I went to pick it up from the FFL on 04/05/18. The beautiful walnut stock and the quality of the finished is astounding. This will be my wild hog Henry. I always wanted a Henry and and so proud I got one. There will be a next Henry, but I'm deciding on 3 of them, 41,44, 357, or a mare 357. I cant make up my mind, but Bud's is like a candy factory for children, the more you buy the more you want. Excellent quality on this lever action. if you are looking for one, forget the rest and get the best, Henry " MADE IN AMERICA OR NOT MADE AT ALL"
