Nice little pistol for the money since s&w got lobotomized

I love Taurus guns. They are very well built and will last a lifetime. This gun fits my hand perfectly and is surprisingly accurate at distances that most short barrel guns are not. For me it is one gun that I will keep forever.

Tell you the truth I feel like I cheated someone when I bought this gun! It looks good and shoots great with a nice finish and tight action Taurus is making some remarkable handguns. I love it.

Great little gun, can't beat it for the price. I've got about 100rds through it without a hiccup. I put a set of Altamont wood grips on it and its a little sweety, even being a Taurus. This model m85 and the model m66 in .357 are 2 Taurus guns that get looked over always but if you have either of these you know they are true sleepers. Don't let the name fool you.

What a great little pistol. I have large hands but this is very comfortable to hold when shooting. Pretty stiff recoil with +P but very manageable. The finish is very attractive and the grips are very comfortable. Very happy.

I bought this revolver for use in my concealed handgun classes. I got it at a great price, made even better by a factory rebate that was going on at the time. While Taurus has a well-deserved reputation for spotty quality control, the Model 85 is one of their oldest designs, and they have figured out how to make this gun properly. On receipt, I was favorably impressed by the quality of fit and finish of this stainless steel revolver. Out of the box, the double action trigger was much better than on most of my small revolvers, running about 9.5 pounds on my scale. Single action pull was about 3.5 pounds. Timing of the revolver seems good and on the range it proved to be accurate for a small gun, out to 15 yards or so. Unfortunately, for me at least, the mother of one of my best friends who had never shot a gun before tried the Taurus and fell in love with it. It was so great to see how quickly she bonded with the gun and gained confidence with it, that I allowed my friend to buy it for her, but I kept the rebate. Now I'm just waiting for another one to pop up at a good price to replace it.

I had a friend who spoke very highly of his Taurus 38, so I thought I'd give it a go at a very good price. Buds service was excellent. Great price and easy delivery to my gun shop. When I received the revolver, I noticed the hammer would stick at half-cock. This didn't seem right to me, so I called Taurus and they confirmed it shouldn't work like this. I sent it back to them immediately, and more than 2 months later, they still have not fixed and returned it. Clearly, I went for price on this gun, but out of the box I think a gun should work. I've never had these issues with other brands, but I typically buy Ruger or Beretta. Next time, I will spend a few more dollars. I would not buy nor recommend a Taurus with so many other quality brands on the market.

Great gun for the money. Again Bud's does a great job in shipping. Only problem I see is that it really shoots low. Just need to adjust you sight alignment and remember where to hold the sights onto the target. I would give Bud's and the gun 5 stars if it wasn't for the problem of it shooting so low. I got this gun awhile ago budsgun shipping is very fast and custommer service very good ,I got the gun and shoot very good just learn how to adjust where to aim to make it go to target.I did buy another gun with budsgun.Very happy with everything

Very accurate and comfortable to shoot. The grip fits like a glove. My highlight is the accuracy.

I like the handgun. I purchased the SS version. I thought it would be a highly polished, chrome like finish. The SS finish is a dull silver color. Other than that, the handgun is great for the price.

This was my second gun purchase from Bud's who was great. Unhappily after firing just 9 rounds through the Taurus 85 I had to quit and call Taurus. Something broke. The trigger will not reset and if I push it forward and try to pull it the hammer will not lift. I can manually pull the hammer back and the gun will fire. Taurus has sent me a postage paid shipping label so I can send the gun to them for repair. Hopefully Taurus will solve the problem because I foolishly did not buy Bud's Warranty this time.

A nice 5 shot 38 special for a low price. It is small enough to store in the console of my car and easily conceals for CCW.

I'm not an expert by any stretch. But these are my "layman" observations of this weapon. To start with it's a great value. Yes I know it's not S&W, but it's a well built and sturdy little revolver. At the firing range it's double action was very smooth. No hitches or glitches. I found accuracy at 25 feet to be acceptable. All rounds found center mass which is all I ask of a concealed weapon. I decided to go with 125 grain JHP for home defense. Not a lot of kick with this round. Great for my mother for whom I bought this firearm. Now, unless you have really small hands you will have to replace the grip. My pinky finger did not reach any part of the original grip. I opted for some slightly larger Houge grips. Made a huge difference in handling the gun with added stability. I don't see how you could go wrong If you want a sturdy little CCW at an affordable price. I am very happy with my Taurus model 85 and with bud's gun shop. They make it extremely simply to buy a gun online. West Minton Florida

I bought two of these , one for my wife and one for my daughter. These revolvers are very good for the money and are great self defense guns . Buds again had excellent customer service. Five star all the way around
