Beautiful gun but the thumb safety slips up while shooting. May send back for professional inspection. Can’t tell the difference from my other 1911’s. So, not sure why it’s labeled PC. Still on the fence after 100 rounds.

It’s what you would expect, well built, accurate and a comfortable to carry, lightweight commander. I love the stainless slide with side cuts and rounded bottom which makes it concealable and again comfortable. The frame material is light which has its positives but I wonder if I’d like a steel or stainless frame better??? The frame stippling is wearing more than steel would and I am hard on my sidearms so every ding is just a bit more damage than normally would be. Again, what you give to get lighter weight. The safety is a tiny bit mushy and not as crisp as some others (albeit not fair as they are Les Baer, Colt Custom Shop and Nighthawk Custom). I would love G10 grips and a set of really thin G10 grips would have been so so so much better than the standard thick grips this came with but I have yet to try a thin set. Just not pumped to buy grips, short screws and short hardware it would need. But I really really want to. In the end, I still like this 1911 Commander a lot and I have an all steel Colt Commander I compare this to. I prefer carrying this and I prefer shifting the other at the range. That is it. I hope this helps.

An awesome 1911 commander size, 4.25" .45 ACP. Very light, super fast trigger - I suppose that is the big draw of 1911's. This is my first, and it's a pain to clean and breakdown compared to my Sig P226, and I've I had to repair the safety myself, as I didn't want to deal with S&W warranty stuff. Great gun!

I expected more from this 1911. On face value, it is one of the more pretty 1911’s Bud’s has to offer. The trigger is great. Reset is nonexistent short. Grips are nice... a little thick, but nice. What I don’t like about the pistol is the pin on the top of the slide in the back works it’s way loose after a magazine. After 2 mags, it’s sticking up 4-5mm. I don’t feel a pistol that costs $1400 should do that. I find it ironic that it says “Performance [Center]” on the side and it has performance issues regularly. At the time, I was looking at the Smith & Wesson Performance Center 1911 models and the Sig Sauer P220 Legion. I wish I would have gone with the ladder.

Straight out the box and stripped down the internals are extremely dirty and it's clear it has been fired more than a few times. I understand this is from test fires but some evidence of such would have been nice (brass, target) and a little cleaning afterwards would have been nice. It's not a big deal but it would have gone a long way as of customer satisfaction if they had done so. Instead, straight out the box I feel S&W doesn't care enough about me or my purchase to at least clean the weapon. I fired it for the first time today. 200 rounds of Fiochi 45 ACP. CONS: I got 1 failure to extract, about 4 failure to feed, mag oddly failed to lock in place for a bit, and the slide failed to lock to the rear about 4 times when emptying a mag. PROS: it's a light handgun but does well to suppress the recoil. It's more accurate than I am and is capable of consistently placing rounds in the same whole as the last. I was able to achieve this multiple times from 5 and 10 yards. With more practice I can accomplish a lot with this handgun, as far as accuracy. The trigger is nice but I wouldn't call it crisp (it seems to hang up on reset). Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed and can't possibly recommend this firearm. For $1300 you can easily find yourself a better quality weapon. Just walking into the gun store I was shooting at and picking up the other 1911s they had to offer (Sig, Springfield, etc) I can feel the quality difference in almost every way, and these are $800-$900 1911s. I bought this for EDC but there's no way I can trust it with my life. I'll continue to try different ammunition in hopes of better reliability. As of now, I'm definitely regretting this purchase.

My first 1911 that I own and glad I went with this one. Excellent quality and very comfortable to conceal carry. not heavy or bulky. Shoots great better than i expected with recoul and follow up shots. I got teo extra meg car mags so got 4 in total. it comes with the key thing to field strip so that’s convenient. All my smith and wessons are performance center. they the best and worth every penny. thank you s&w and thanks buds for a great price and exceptional customer service.

Fantastic firearm. I have over 1,500 rounds through this sweetheart and not a single hiccup. I was just a tad concerned that the recoil might be a bit harsh due to the lighter weight, but I needn't have worried. I can hardly tell the difference between this and my full size Colt 1911 Government model .45. I am not an expert pistolier, but this firearm makes me look like I know what I am doing. The recoil spring is quite sturdy, so it does take a bit more effort to operate the slide than other 1911's I own or have shot.

Just got this beauty Thursday and ran 100 rounds through it on Friday. It is by far the smoothest shooting 45 I own and a damn nice firearm. As Usual, Bud's shipping and service was flawless,

This is a good looking 1911 and PC tune a light almost competition trigger. My only issue was due to the cuts and light S & W proprietary materials recoil was stiffer then I liked. If you've shot airlites before and not recoil sensitive then this a a gorgeous addition to your collection or a viable carry option.

Considered getting this pistol for probably a couple of years and when I saw it was available again a while back I pulled the trigger so to speak. It's an interesting gun, but I am disappointed in a few ways, nothing real big but not what I expected. The smallest problem was on the first outing after probably the first 50 rounds the grip panels were about to fall off. VZ grips need o-rings under the screws to act as lock washers and this pistol had none. I have several pistols with VZ grips and keep spare o-rings so that was an easy fix. Second the thumb safey is a little loose and would activate by itself after usually only 3-4 shots. Suddenly the trigger wouldn't pull and the pistol wouldn't fire, a fairly serious problem if you were trying to defend yourself. I will replace it with machined Ed Brown ambi, much better than the S&W mim safetey. The last negative is the trigger. Not what I would call bad but not as good as expected. There is slight creep to the pull and it is heavier than stated. On a Lyman digital gauge it is 4# 10oz. I'm hoping it will break in to at least a bit less than 41/2#'s. Seldom triggers on production guns are great and what the manufacturer claims with the exception of custom guns and Dan wessons. I have 11 Dan Wessons and the trigger on every one of them is as good as my Les Baer and Wilson. The one on this pistol isn't bad, just not what I expected from a performance center pistol. The good thing is this pistol is deadly accurate. I have only fired it off hand and every outing have had several touching 3 shot groups. This is a keeper, I just didn't expect to have to put more money into it to make it what it should already be.

This Bobtail PC1911 is awesome! The fit is tight and the trigger is crisp. Smith & Wesson's Performance Center outdid themselves on this beautiful firearm. Thank you Bud's for another perfect transaction.

This 1911 by Smith&Wesson Performance Center is one great gun, took it to the range the other day and was very impressed with the the 2/12-3 pound trigger action, low recoil and feels great in the hand, I really like the looks of this gun, defenetly a Real eye catcher, first 8 shots dead center tight groupings, made me feel like the real expert that I'm not or don't boast to be, I owened a Kimber 1911 ultra that was a nice gun but the FTEs were where I couldn't trust the gun any longer, a problem Kimber has had with their 1911s for a while now. As always Buds great service prevails again, I have purchased many guns from Bud's and always with great results.
