I watched a YouTube video. The way rugers were manufactured a line of c & n machines making perfect parts checking to make sure they were perfect. If not, they stop the line, and no inferior part, moved down-the-line, they said they had a new million dollar rotary forged barrel machine again, making perfect barrels in an unbelievable price point. Such high quality incredibly accurate. The biggest reason I bought it was the sites, the iron sights on the gun. Are beautiful,buds had this Woodstock for way less than I could buy a synthetic stock. Anywhere. else?

The Ruger American .22 rimfire (wood stock) is an excellent choice for shooters wanting accuracy exceeding usual human frailties and error. Having not purchased a powder burner since about 1984 the wider selection of available models here, and the ease of doing business online was new to me, but went seamlessly with Bud's. This standard model rifle's admirable good qualities of using a reliable 10/22 magazine which doesn't protrude underneath the stock, and the proper tang safety location, along with the excellent adjustable trigger, for me, a highly functional ambidextrous target shooter and small game hunter is fabulous and were the chief factors in choosing this model. Further kudos to Ruger as I live 45 minutes away from my FFL delivery destination, the people who accepted the FedEx shipment and who phoned me three hours later that everything was ready for my pickup, so I was not able to verify the condition of the firearm upon delivery. Hard to tell from the outside (and not intending to blame anyone) that the plain cardboard packaging did not show that the front Williams fiber optic sight was busted (the Williams front sight is inherently fragile and should be a hooded commodity). One easy and enjoyable phone call to Ruger customer service and after speaking with this very personable operator, about a week later, I received at no cost to me, a replacement front sight. Out of the box accuracy is deserving of a quality optic to take full advantage of it. A youtube video of some person slathering the bolt with a mild abrasive to "polish," it in his "break-in process" is rubbish. If the American was not as accurate a shooter as it is, I'd be questioning what is by micrometer measurement and easily apparent visually, some excessive "play," of the bolt within the receiver. Dime size 5-shot groups at 50 yards using CCI standard velocity and subsonic lead hollow points. I don't at shoot anything without knowing where the projectile is landing. Hope this review is helpful. From a political "liberal," gun owner, best to all you fellow enthusiasts.

I really like the ruger american woodstock 22, looks good, shoots really well and works perfectly, the trigger is nice set at 3 lbs. Was my first online purchase, everything went smoothly. I will be buying from Buds again.

Excellent .22 rifle. Adjustable trigger, very good open sights, nice looking, well made, accurate. Put a Simmons 4x32 .22 Mag scope on it, which comes with rings that mate perfectly with the built in base on the receiver. It will take Butler Creek 25 round magazines too, although they get in the way for my type of shooting. Fewer stoppages and less ammo sensitive than the 10/22 it replaced. Good job Ruger.

I recently purchased a new Ruger American [ wood stock] and could not be happier --- The rifle is as advertised, well made and functions flawlessly --- What I would expect from Ruger.
