These Stainless Steel Piatta manufactured Frontier Pre War .45 Colt revolvers were not available for the last couple of years, but as soon as they were available Bud's Gun Shop had them. I reasoned that this was a must buy, and I had better act quickly to secure one of these fine SAA revolvers. Bud's price, ease of purchase, and outstanding customer service is simply amazing. After the purchase I ask for assistance in delaying the shipment of the revolver to my designated FFL as I was working out of state for the next month. The good folks at Bud's came up with a "layaway" solution, and I was able to have the revolver shipped to my FFL and arrive upon my return home. Bud's is the best. PICKED THIS GUN UP YESTERDAY AT MY LOCAL FFL DEALER. IT TOOK ABOUT A WEEK FROM DATE OF ORDER TILL DELIVERY. TOOK IT TO THE RANGE TODAY AND PUT 50 ROUNDS THROUGH IT. NO RUNS, DRIPS OR ERRORS. GUN GROUPS REAL WELL ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO SHOT A LITTLE LOW. WINDAGE IS RIGHT ON. THE ACTION IS SMOOTH AS SILK AND TRIGGER IS ABOUT 4.5 LBS. THE FIT AND FINISH IS EXCELLENT. I recently purchased a Cimarron PP4500 from Bud's. I placed the order on a Monday, contacted a local FFL to handle the transaction and Bud's shipped on Friday. I had the gun by the next Tuesday afternoon. I was very pleased with the way this was handled and probably saved about $100 compared to local dealers. None of the local dealers I contacted had my model in stock and quoted 2-3 weeks delivery. I decided about 3 months ago that I wanted a Colt 45 reproduction. I spent many hours reading reviews and acquainting myself with the various "klones" available. I also was able to handle firearms made by Ruger, Uberti, and Heritage before having the opportunity to handle a Cimarron Frontier model that Pietta makes for Cimarron. This gun is the most authentic reproduction of the Colt that I have found. It is a little lighter weight but has a great feel and has the authenitc C-O-L-T hammer clicks. But more than that, the hammer action is incredibly smooth and easy, much easier (lighter) than any other that I handled. The trigger also has a very light action, probably around 5 ft-lbs. I was sold the first time I handled the gun. Bud's had the best price and free shipping on the the model I wanted, the stainless steel model with 4.75" barrel. If you want an authentic 1873 model SA 45 Colt reproduction, I urge you to look at the Cimarron Frontier series made by Pietta SOONER rather than LATER!!

This is one finely made firearm. Fit, finish, and function couldn't be better. It truly is a clone of the 1873, including the four definite clicks of the hammer. Not a bit of Cylinder play when the hammer is placed in full battery. The highly polished stainless steel resembles a nickel finish and the wood grips are nicely done. Having taken it to my local range I found that if I do my part, the Frontier .45 shot at point of aim. It was really fun knocking down rows of 10 inch round steel targets at 15 yards. This weapon IMHO certainly rates five stars, and I am glad I found it at Bud's and made the purchase.

I am really impressed with this revolver. It is machined to a fantastic tolerance that was unexpected. The stainless finish is like a mirror. The action is impossible to explain in that it is just that smooth. The wood grips are decorative and very functional. In my humble opinion, my decision to get this baby instead of the similar Ruger was a good choice. This revolver doesn't have the modern cross bar safety, it is an almost exact replica of the 1873"Peace Maker" not a modern gun in an antique shell. So if you do get one, be advised that this weapon should be carried with the hammer resting on an empty chamber for safety. One lick to the hammer on a loaded chamber will likely cause a discharge. So if you want a great rendition of a classic weapon over one that just looks like it. I would highly recommend this revolver. It seems to be high quality and historical accurate. I love mine.
