Union Army soldiers relied on many different types of sidearms for short range and close quarters combat. The revolver was unique in that it had the ability to fire several rounds per minute before having to reload. Revolvers were typically issued to officers and mounted soldiers, however some were purchased privately or found on the battlefield by infantrymen.

Distinguished by its octagon barrel and lever style loader, the 1851 helped to begin both the expansion of the West and the Civil War. The 1851 Navy is commonly considered to be one of gunfighter “Wild Bill” Hickok’s favorite handguns. The British government licensed the manufacturing rights and produced what is commonly known as the London Model. This revolver features an 7.5" octagonal barrel, steel frame, brass guard, and walnut grip. It is available in .44 caliber, weighs 2.75 lbs., and is 13.5" in length.

I like shooting black powder pistols and this Colt Navy replica shot accurately at 15 yards. The pistol is well made and has a nice shine and balance to it.

I would recommend this pistol being purchased from buds' great price for a decent product. Waiting to shoot the pistol and then be able to provide a better evaluation. It arrived in a timely manner in its pristine condition. the Pistol itself seems balanced to the hand but is slightly heavy in general weight for a pistol . For the price and quality it is a good value for the amateur as well as collector of black powder pistols.

Had it for about a year now and it's a great black powder revolver for beginners. The take down pin was pretty stuck but I got it eventually lol. great hobby gun tho!

Ordering from Buds was easy and straightforward. Shipped out quickly and was revolver arrived in perfect condition. This 1851 Colt Navy in 44 caliber made by Pietta and imported by Traditions is an excellent revolver! The fit and finish is excellent, the action is very smooth without any burrs. After removing all the oil from shipping with a degreaser, lubricating then with Ballistol and 1000 Plus Bore Butter I shot it using.454 round balls and kept charges between 25 and 35 grains by volume of 3FG black powder. I included a picture of the results. This was shot at 10 yards (30 feet) away. Excellent results!! I’m very happy!!

Looking for a fun time plinking? This Navy revolver will provide it. I have shot it several times and had no issues. I recommend this if you are in the market for a black powder pistol.

I found this revolver to be of very high quality. The fit and finish are as good as guns costing much more. Ease of loading, and accuracy, are both excellent.
Five stars for this one!

An unexpected pleasure ordering from Bud’s. My order arrived at my door three days later, in a well packed box. I highly recommend Bud’s.
