Machined from a solid 15-pound block of US-sourced 4140 steel, the receiver weighs 2 pounds after machining and is heat treated to RC41 hardness. The MB74 accepts 22mm press-in barrels and is compatible with stamped or milled AK-74 parts kits, although fitting is required. The barrel journal is cut to 0.866 inches after heat treatment, with a target barrel interference of 0.001 inches and an absolute maximum interference of 0.0015 inches. Barrel dimensions should be measured before assembly.
