The Marlin 1894 Trapper in the .357 Magnum can't be beat. Quick handling is absolutely correct, action is quick too, and mine is as smooth as silk, right out of the box. Shot .38, .38+P, and .357 mag with no issues whatsoever. Marlins aren't Marlins anymore. They're made by Ruger and this one is out of the park! Fit, finish, materials choice - top tier. I also bought the Smith & Wesson 1854 in .357 mag and I returned it. In comparison with this Marlin 1894 Trapper, well there IS no comparison! The S&W has a floppy trigger, the action is stiff compared to the Marlin, and it's heavy and unbalanced. I returned the S&W and kept the Marlin. I love it so much, it even has a threaded barrel. I love this rifle. The lever action is smooth and satisfying. The brass, wood and finish are very nice. I was surprised at the precise accuracy with iron sights at 50 yards. My favorite gun by far.
