Mike, no Sir. The 22LR has a smaller diameter case. You would need the NAA Combo that comes with both cylinders (22Mag and 22LR).

Would you guys recommend this for self defense?

Honestly, if this is all you have then it is worth it, there are better options here. This will be okay as a backup firearm. I would recommend it for self defense if it is a backup for a more powerful firearm. In a self defense situation I think this can cause problems, unless you TRAIN consistently and master the weapon. It was my pleasure to assist you.

Never owned/fired gun this small. Can someone explain trigger operation and use by person with large hands?

This is a "Single Action Only" Trigger Orland meaning the hammer must be cocked each time to fire the pistol.

Single action firearm. Cocking the hammer moves the trigger slightly forward (out of the frame)

Found it hard to remove cylinder take down pin for loading/unloading. however NAM was quick to offer warrenty service to fix problem. Otherwise the gun is of excellent quality.
