I love buying guns online at BUDS! My 3 "wish-list" guns are: Colt Python. SS 4 or 6" Bbl., (2) Sig P210 .9mm(Not imitation Legacy model). and (3) Orig Browning 9mm Hi-Power. This used surplus FN Hi Power seems to be literally identical to the Browning Hi-Power. What are the differences? Which model is superior? Which is worth more and holds value better over time? Condition is everything. An old Belgium Browning can fetch over $3,000 easy depending on the model. Differences are slight and really differentiated by markings only. I'd be happy to own either. I don't think one is superior to other operationally. But the right Browning Hi Power is far more collectable.

An old friend, lawyer and former FBI agent once told me when discussing the many 9mm autos available ..." Get anything you want ..as long as it says Browning on the side of it" I have always wanted a nice, real Hi-Power....a Browning.

The surplus ones cost a lot less and are functionally identical. If some cosmetic issues bug you you may want to refinish it, but aside from that there is really no reason to buy a brand new gun from Browning.

Can anyone tell me if these are C&R? I contacted Buds and they can't look at the serials unless I buy them, and couldn't tell me if they're C&R or not. I'm in California and can't buy it unless it's C&R.

Its impossible to say. Even if someone did buy one, his serial number may be wildly off the one you get. I have read reviews from other sites where guys got one 50+ years old. Others much newer. Age is the only category these would fall under for C&R. And with out a serial number, its impossible to answer for sure.

Where are the import markings located? And can anyone confirm that these are definitely FN produced? Any additional history on their origin would be helpful as well. Thanks

Import marks are generally on the left side of the slide. And the pictures definitely look a lot more FN than FEG. If I had to guess, this is from another batch of Israeli police surplus.

Are these FN Herstal produced weapons or licensed FM?

I'm pretty sure that FN made this batch as part of a contract with the IDF.

From what I read, they are true to the design/functionality just like a Herstal produced one but extensive research I did was not fruitful concerning this batch. Sorry
