The extended magazine makes the pistol fit better in your hand, preventing the butt from constantly kicking the lower part of your hand. Might not seem very important with a .22 but if you shoot a large number of rounds in a day it definitely makes a difference. Much more comfortable and also leads to improved accuracy since it sits more naturally in your hand. Well worth the extra cost. Be aware it does not hold additional rounds but just extends the length.
