This is THE little .22 or .17HMR rifle to have. Yes, it is based only on the Anschutz 64 action and not the 1500 action as the more expensive Anschutz .22, .22 WMR and .17 HMR rifles have, but this is the very best of the around 1000.00 rifles. I have had Anschutz rifles since 1968, all target guns. Recently bought a .17 HMR, so happy went out and ordered same gun in .22 LR. Function is flawless, finish is beautiful, stock is nicer than those on the Anschutz except the Machmeister grade. The trigger is the single stage although I would have preferred the two stage that is on the series 64 action when it is a target rifle. BUT it is fully adjustable for sear engagement (most important) and weight and over travel although the stock weight setting screw has a very deep section that tensions the spring and the resultant trigger weight is too heavy. Just take it out of the trigger group, chuck it in a drill or drill press and grind down the height of that heavy section to reduce tension on the trigger and one gets a really fine 2.5 to 3 pound trigger pull that is sharp as one can find these days. Use the Warne scope bases and the two piece vertically split Warne rings (either fixed or quick detachable) as they do a great job and look really nice on the gun. Other rings particularly the ones that are "tip off" design, regardless of cost (Burris are the nicest I have found) still look a bit "clunky" so I have used Warne bases and rings these past 7 or so years with great results.

A beautiful, well made rifle that's extremely accurate out to 100 yards (with the right ammo). A keeper for sure.

Very accurate. A pleasure to shoot. Mine suffered from the known ejection issue where cases would eject to the left, or not at all. I was able to find the tweak at Snipershide.com and got it working properly. Apparently, the extractor holds the rim too tight for proper ejection. It's a shame to pay this much for a "quality" rifle, then have to spend time and effort finding and implementing a correction. I have no doubt Weatherby would repair it under warranty, but I didn't want to risk shipping it, or go without the rifle for the time it would take. I bought it to shoot, not to work on or ship back and forth to Weatherby. I don't understand why Weatherby and Anshutz don't address the issue in manufacturing. Now that it's running, it's smooth as silk.
