This pistol was my second purchase from buds. I was extremely happy with the first but this one had some issues. All seemed well when I picked it up from my FFL dealer, disassembled/ reassembled fine. Got the firearm home and notice while dry firing that the trigger felt a little "gritty". I disassembled the pistol again, took a can of gun scrubber (with the thin red straw attached to the nozzle) blasted the crap out of the trigger assembly and I kid you not...freaking sand fell out onto my cleaning rag! I have been shooting / buying and selling firearms for 25 years and haven't seen anything like that since I was in the Marine Corps rolling around the desert. Certaintly never would expect that from a new firearm. The other issues was that the parkerized coating is really thin and does not fend off minor scratches well at all. This is supposed to be a combat pistol so I don't think that will bother me too much as time passes and scratches accumulate. Also, on the slide it is engraved "Model 1911A1 US Army" but it is etched so lightly it is BARELY visible at all. Again, I don't think this bothers me too much because it is not an original and I am not trying to pass it off as such. Just felt it deserves mention from a quality finish standpoint. This is a lower end price range 1911 so I guess you get what you pay for (finish wise). That being said, the pistol function well at the range. I put a hundred rounds through it (used 3 different mags. the factory mag it came with , Mec-Gar, Colt) and had no issues which I was really happy with. Overall, my main concern is the functionality of the firearm so overall I'm happy that but the whole sand thing was really weird.

Great Gun! Other than the Series 80 firing pin safety, this is as close to the original and your likely to find. Side by side with my 1943 Colt 1911A1, it's almost identical. So far I've only fired the recommended 230gr. FMJ ammo through it and had no failures. If you want a faithful reproduction this is it!

Love this milspec pistol right out of the box. If you want a plain un-modified 1911 as it was intended to be, this is the model and manufacturer to buy. I have wanted a military 1911 for years and and glad I purchased this fire arm from Buds. The service and shipping time were bar none, GREAT. I would purchase another Khar Auto ordnance from buds any day. thanks tim

I usually do not write online reviews however I have found myself relying on online reviews more and more when deciding on purchasing a firearm and after the outstanding performance of the Auto Ordnance 1911PKZSE I figured I needed to write this one. I read some mixed reviews on this firearm before purchasing and learned that Auto Ordnance had a previously bad reputation. But I also learned they were under new management and their new products were much better. Given the price range I took a chance. Shot it for the first time at the range last weekend. 60 degree weather and 100 rounds of Winchester White Box 230 grain FMJ. Zero failures to fire, feed, or eject. I used the factory magazine, 2 Mec-Gar MGCG4507 1911 Magazines, and a Ruger SR1911 factory magazine. All performed flawlessly. Accuracy was great with a predominant grouping in the lower left of the bulls eye from a standing position at 7 to 15 yards (the ones outside of that were user error). This certainly was not a torture test and I have no intention of firing JHPs or any other specialty ammo in this since it is after all meant to be a reproduction of an original 1911A1 and all that entails. Bottom line, this is not the highest end 1911 in my collection but if it keeps performing like this, I will have no problem relying on it when needed. Also, I would like to say that I have bought several firearms from Buds and I have never had any problems. Their service and shipping have always been to my satisfaction and they continued meeting that standard with this purchase.

I received my AO1911a1 and all looked good. Took it home to clean it before taking it to the range and noticed that the barrel had horrible chatter / tooling marks all in the rifling. I contacted Auto Ordnance, they asked for pictures so I sent them and they agreed that it was very bad and to send it back for a barrel replacement. Besides the chatter marks, the trigger was very heavy. They had my pistol for a few weeks and called to tell me everything is ok with it and that its a military spec pistol so don't be so picky about the chatter marks and trigger. I shoot cast lead so tooling marks make it a pain to clean after shooting. The guy from Auto Ordnance didn't care and would not replace the barrel. I tried arguing with the guy but nothing helped, his mind was made up and he shipped it back. After I got it back I took it to the range, fired some fmj out of it and it shot significantly lower than any of my other "mil spec" 1911's. A Rock Island 1911 from the Philippines is a better made "mil Spec" 1911 than this Auto Ordnance.

If you are interested, buy this with confidence. Ive shot Colts, Kimbers, Springfields, and the like, and little difference is noticed, if any at all. In fact, its funny to hear people complain about the "stiffness" of the series 80 trigger system, because it then becomes obvious that these people have never, ever shot a vintage Army issue Colt. Now those things have a stiff trigger on 'em. The Auto Ordnance 1911 is not cosmetically perfect, but they imperfections are so minuscule that you would have to be crazy to be bothered by them. I am very pleased with the quality of the looks and the functioning of this weapon. I think that people interested in a gun like this show taste, and if you buy it, you will not be let down.

If your looking for a modern interpretation of a 1911 this is not it. Its a very good reproduction of the WW2 milspec. Its a solid well built American firearm. I am very pleased with it so far. I've put quite few rounds through it and have had no issues at all.

A great 1911 for the price. Fit and finish are excellent! It shoots as good as it looks!
