Excellent reproduction of the Colt transition from cap and ball to cartridge revolvers. Cimarron’s “Mil-Spec” workmanship and finishing process is revealed by crisp clicking sounds and trigger pull. This revolver is a solid beast that easily absorbs the .45 long colt recoil making it easy to regain sight picture. This is one of my favorite colt cartridge revolvers!

I bought 2 of these and had them tuned for Cowboy Action Shooting. Since I had the work done prior to shooting them, I can’t really say much about the stock pistols other than that they point well, shoot to point of aim, and are well fit/finished.

This is the third Colt open top reproduction of the Army transition that I have bought--the others were the eight inch version and fellow shooters were so impressed that they got sold so this one I keep. The handgun itself is flawless- I've read enough about these Uberti built guns to know it will handle standard factory rounds but I intend to just use it with the milder cowboy action ammo-- In my opinion, the black powder era revolvers were the best looking revolvers ever made--
Once again, my experience with Bud's guns was a pleasure. This is I believe at least the ninth gun I have bought from them--very satisfied ------ John H

Wow! I love this (reproduction) piece of Colt history! I'm already planning a holster for it from page 106 of my favorite book on western leather - Packing Iron. I wish that you could have a way of attaching a photo. I'd love to send you photos of the leather I've made for the firearms I've purchased from Bud's!

I have several Cimarron guns and have always had mostly good luck with them. This revolver had multiple issues. The first thing I noticed was that the cam track in the ejector housing was machined wrong causing the ejector button to dangle loosely and rattle rather than camming over into contact with the bottom of the barrel when released like it’s supposed to. Another issue was that the cylinder actually made contact with the water table as it rotated. This began to wear the high points on the roll engraving. The bolt didn’t fully retract into the frame when cocking the hammer which began to wear a line completely around the circumference of the cylinder. The cylinder has noticeable end shake and the barrel/cylinder gap looks excessive although I haven’t measured it with a feeler gauge yet. I’m an amateur gunsmith and have been able to rectify most of the issues. I may try a different wedge later to see if I can minimize the cylinder end shake. I’ll think twice before buying another Cimarron.
