I put around 30 or 40 rounds through the gun. Each time after one or two rounds shot, the slide became "stuck" and fails to eject. Now I am seeking to solve this problem by search internet ... hope to find the solution.

This is a good shotgun. However, it was advertised as having a 7 round magazine tube and it is only a 5 round tube.

Absolutely beautiful firearm. The finish is flawless, the action firm but smooth, I was surprised to find that the forward grip which cycles the action has three built in rails for lights, lasers, whatever. You can't tell in the picture. Delivery was as scheduled, even though I had to delay a week for my FFL dealer to be present. Great equipment, thank you Bud's!

First thing I disassembled and oiled the action. First test shot stuck with a Federal slug (low base) in the chamber and had to be removed with shotgun cleaning rod. Sights are aligned with shotgun bore. Used sample of high brass shotgun shells and all worked fine. The easiest to shoot were Remington managed recoil high brass shotgun shells (2 3/4 1 oz. rifled slugs 20290). According to Gun Tests this generated "1203 foot pounds and would penetrate 33 inches of water...defense against most animals..." Shotgun may just need to be cleaned. I have found that Blast penetrating oil makes an excellent bore solvent. This is spayed on a stainless shotgun brush wrapped in a shotgun cleaning patch. The coating on the threaded magazine cap makes the cap difficult to tighten. I ordered few Brenneke 2 3/4 inch slugs, will test them out next. A shotgun shooter at the range, who, reported "had won many shotguns, but all have long barrels," commented the 18.5" inch barrel was easier to swing than the long barreled hunting shotguns...I don't think he liked the 590A1 concept, but then I wouldn't expect that from a trap shooter. I like the idea that the short barrel could be carried through trees without catching on branches much. There is a very good book about bears, called "Bear Attacks, the deadly truth," where the author trains Canadian wildlife personnel that about 3 shotgun shells are needed to stop something like a charging bear (page 235) I copied Gun Tests format and used empty one gallon milk containers filled with water for targets...when hit with a slug the hydraulic pressure caused them to explode like a water balloon. I like the way Mossberg action works, is very smooth and seems to be strong. Make sure to wear both the inner ear plugs and the ear muff type ear protection. This is noisy. I may put a White Line recoil pad on this. The existing pad is slightly soft.

This is my first firearm and my first dealing with Bud's, but it won't be my last. The mariner is a beast. Very reliable and if you are a respobsible firearm handler, this shotgun is very safe and easy to shoot and maintain. It is my home defence gun, but I shoot it weekly in my backyard range. Could not be happier!

A:Paul, 18.5 inch, Heavy-Walled, Cylinder Bore, Bead Sight and Marinecote is correct as stated by Mossberg\'s website. Buds just forgot to enter the .5 inch in their listing. (https://www.mossberg.com/product/590a1-7-shot-mariner-50777/)See 2 more answers | -
