Does this also shoot .38?

Yes, .38sp is a lower pressure cartridge and is safe to fire from gun rated for .357. You just can't do it the other way around. Have a great day!

Larry, yes sir, any 357 Magnum revolver can shoot 38 special. You just cant shoot 357 Magnum out of a firearm chambered in 38 special. So you can shoot 357 Magnum from this for defense, or 38 special for less recoil for fun at the range. Hope this helps

Larry, yes Sir, virtually any .357 Magnum firearm can shoot the shorter and less powerful .38 Special ammo no issue. Cheers and stay safe. P.S. when firing the shorter .38 special, it will develop a carbon ring in the cylinder after some rounds are fired and will cause the longer .357 cartridges to stick when inserting, ejecting. The cure is just to run a bore snake / cleaning brush through the cylinder after firing .38 and switching to .357.

Amazingly accurate. Bud’s had the best deal everywhere I looked. Action is tight and adjustable sights move the bullet where it’s supposed to go.

The revolver shoots like a dream. The only complaint I have is with the quality of machining. On the inside of the frame, when the cylinder is removed, half of the surfaces is not machined to a smooth surface. This takes away from the "Pride of Ownership." Like I said the revolver shoots great, so I just overlook the factory defect, but shame on Ruger for letting this one out the door.

this is hands down my favorite handgun i own, it is smooth to cock which only gets better the more you use it. I am no means a crack shot with a handgun, i couldnt hit the barn if i was standing in it but with this gun i can shoot a solid group.

Great gun that is built like a tank! Fit and finish is perfect, as every other Ruger revolver that I own. I did a quick range run to test fire it and ran 50-rounds through it, with a mix of 158gr Remington 38 Special +P and PMC 357 magnum 158gr jacketed soft point; functioning flawlessly. It is a really fun gun to shoot. As always Bud delivers a great product!

Ordered on a Sunday, got it on Thursday, excellent service from buds, fun and accurate revolver, 38 spc have no recoil. Just upgraded the grips for wood, it look even better.
