The Bad: Front sight became loose and twisted sideways at a noticeable angle within the first ten rounds. Firing factory Winchester rounds. The font sight is plastic and the retaining screw on the bottom of the slide is metal. Probably not the best combination. The rear sight, although adjustable, leaves a lot to be desired. It's plastic and the sight blade does not appear to be level as it sits inside the base. Adjustments are sloppy. This gun can't function with the slightest "limp" grip, wrist, or elbows, it will fail to feed. (not what you want in a self defense situation) The Recoil was much worse than my Walther PPS 9mm which has nearly the same dimensions.
The Good. At seven yards it held a one inch group. Gripped firmly and keeping arms and wrists locked, it feeds reliably. It required much more stability on my part than does my Walther PPS to feed. Trigger feel is as good as most. The trigger reset is above average. It sets quickly and the single action stage feels good. Spent casings eject well and the magazines release is within easy access. The finish seems durable so far. The machining on the slide and the molded polymer lower look nice.
I called Taurus and told them about the front sight. (several minutes on hold) but they did send me a new sight and retaining screw. I used Loc-tite epoxy (for plastic) on the sight. I haven't tested it yet to see if it will hold up. Overall it's ok for the price. If you want total reliability I have to advise you to look elsewhere.

Nice gun, however VERY unreliable. Have put approximately 750 rounds through so far and have had approximately 2-3 jams or failure to eject per 20 rounds. Some ammo does better, some does worse. So far, I have had the most problems using Winchester ammo. The gun was sent in for servicing and the barrel and ejector were replaced, which has not helped. The service response time was less than 2 weeks, so at least Taurus does an excellent job in this regards. The accuracy is great on the gun, kick back is minimal. I have given it a good run, but will be trading mine in.

Nice pistol. My first. Learning as I go. I've figured out most everything. But, I would not recommend this pistol to anyone who needs more than 1 7 round magazine. That's what you learn when just starting out-1 magazine is not enough. Now, Taurus has taken the magazines off their website.

I bought the gun in December 2013. At around round 10 the problems started and within 20 rounds something went wrong with every pull of the trigger. They included: slide wouldn't lock back after last round, failure to extract, failure to eject including stovepipes and other configurations, VERY heavy single action trigger pull, delayed firing with trigger pulled fully (2 to 4 second delay), and failure to chamber next round even if empty casing actually ejected.

Taurus customer service staff were all very nice and efficient with sending the gun in for repairs. Taurus paid all shipping to and from Florida. They decided to replace the barrel, which took 6 months to get from Brazil. Since then, all the malfunctions seem to have been cured except slide failure to lock back on empty mag. They must have replaced more than the barrel since that wouldn't explain the erratic trigger, so I'm not sure.

This model is designed for concealed carry, but I won't ever carry mine. About half the time, the mag gets caught on something half way in to the pistol unless I really ram in home with some force, not smooth at all. Spare mags are inpossible to find, either online or in stores ( I spent 4 months looking online at 30 retailers and finally gave up). But for playing with at the range, it is plenty accurate for its size and purpose.
