I would send in in to Beretta for service as the slide should not be rough when racking. I think you may be over the curve of getting used to the trigger and would keep this great pistol. I don't think the low profile safety will make that much of a difference.
I would contact Beretta and speak with them about sending it in to be worked on contact beretta at 1-800-BERETTA it should be smooth and I would keep working to master the trigger pull and safety as they are it's nice to be able to shoot different type of platforms
The slide shouldn't be that hard to rack on this. I would contact Beretta and get this looked at asap. Beretta stands by their products. 1-800-BERETTA I think once you get used to the trigger and safety you will really like the PX4. My wife loves hers.

I would trade this in for a pistol you feel more comfortable with. I feel your money would be better spent on getting a new pistol rather than throwing good money at a Beretta pistol that you don't actually feel comfortable/familiar with. Also the Army had issues with Beretta pistols.
