the biggest safety is the hammer just thumb it back just before you fire. Always carry it with the hammer foward

Hi Morris, there is no manual cross bar, (thumb) safety. As with most break action shotguns, the safety mechanism is the hammer. It will not fire until you pull the hammer back. Stay safe & have a great day!
