This should work pretty well from a 7" barrel no problem Chuck. Even suppressed. Velocity will be about 80fps slower than a 10.5" barrel according to Hornady's chart estimates here : http://www.hornadyle.com/products/rifle-ammunition/223-remington/75-gr-bthp-tap
