Hi Shawn, personally, I would not use a slug for home defense, there is too much risk for over penetration. #4 Buckshot is a better choice budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/151718/barnes+defense+buckshot+loads+12+ga.+2.75+in.+4bk+21+pellets+5+rd. , Stay safe & have a great day!
Hi Shawn and welcome. Yes, but the low recoil version works best for home defense: budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/15600/federal+vital+shok+12+ga.+2+3+4+1+oz+lead+rifle+slug+5rd+box ------------------------- A staggered load of low recoil slugs and #4 Buckshot (with #4 buckshot as the first shot) is recommended -- budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/65661/federal+12+ga.+2+3+4+27+pel.+4+lead+buckshot ----------- Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
I agree with ed c I prefer a good quality #4 buck load indoors. now outside a alternating load of buckshot followed by a slug is a great way to be prepared for anything
