Here is what you are missing - The barrel itself is 13.9". The NOX muzzle device is pinned & welded. When a muzzle device is pinned/welded, it counts towards the overall length of the barrel, so this brings the length of the barrel to the required 16" without running afoul of the law. Hi and welcome. The pinned and welded NOC Muzzle Flash hider brings the total overall length of the barrel to just over 16 inches for Federal compliance with Rifle laws. If this device was not present or could be removed, the 13.9-inch barrel would make this an SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) needing NFA registration and paying of a $200 Tax Stamp.
