No, +P ammo should not be used in a Taylor's & Co. Second Model Schofield 5" 38 Special Revolver: Firearm manufacturers' recommendations Taylor's & Co. recommends using lead bullet ammo that meets the standard pressure specifications for the firearm's caliber. +P ammo, jacketed ammo, and defense labeled ammo are not recommended. Risk of injury or damage +P rounds have higher pressures than standard .38 Special loads, and should not be fired in standard .38 Special revolvers. Doing so could damage the gun or injure the shooter. The Schofield revolver is a top-break revolver, designed with a hinged frame that opens like a break-action shotgun when the latch is released.
