I know that this used to be legal in NY State but I'm getting conflicting information as to whether it still is. New York City has strict regulations about color (black only). Is this legal in NYC? If not, does anyone know which 20 gauge shotguns are legal, and which are good for a woman. Thanks

Hi Lisa and welcome. The short answer is, it's illegal and there is no grandfather clause. If you have one in NY, it's a crime, regardless of circumstance. The long answer is that it can technically be put on a NY pistol license, but no police department that I'm aware of is willing to do that. Hi Lisa, it is not NY legal. The following "firearms" are prohibited:
✘ Smoothbore (non-rifled) barrel firearms with a pistol grip, regardless of barrel length, including, but not limited to, the Mossberg Cruiser, Mossberg Shockwave, Remington Tac-14, Henry Axe, etc.
