Hi Lisa and welcome. The short answer is, it's illegal and there is no grandfather clause. If you have one in NY, it's a crime, regardless of circumstance. The long answer is that it can technically be put on a NY pistol license, but no police department that I'm aware of is willing to do that. Hi Lisa, it is not NY legal. The following "firearms" are prohibited: ✘ Smoothbore (non-rifled) barrel firearms with a pistol grip, regardless of barrel length, including, but not limited to, the Mossberg Cruiser, Mossberg Shockwave, Remington Tac-14, Henry Axe, etc. Just about any 20 gauge pump shotgun would be legal.
