Hi Rick and welcome. No, a current production Smith & Wesson Model 27 does not have a recessed cylinder; Smith & Wesson discontinued the recessed cylinder feature on all their magnum revolvers, including the Model 27, sometime after 1981, as it was deemed unnecessary. Cheers and stay safe!
