it will work fine but remember a little dab will do you (don't know if you are old enough to remember that )

Hi Tom, Yes it will be ok to get the screws out using this. I use it on fishing reels daily.

I use thread lockers on steel screws in steel threads with no problems. Clean both threads with Gun Scrubber or acetone and apply to the screw threads. If it is blue (probably blue medium strength Loctite) you can use it on steel screws in aluminum threads too with no problem.
