Yes, a wrench is required to remove the factory installed flash hider but then direct thread suppressors will fit the 1/2x28 threads or all manner of proprietary muzzle devices for quick detach suppressors. I highly recommend adjustable gas blocks for suppressor use though.

Yes its easy to remove the flash hider and replace it with a suppressor with 1/2x28 TPI threads
