Hi Duncan and welcome. The difference is The Barrett "18062-S" is essentially a "Barrett 18062" with a "S" added to denote a "short" version, meaning the primary difference between the two is the overall length. The 18062 OAL = 57-inches and the 18062-S OAL = 48-inches. Cheers and stay safe!

Hi Duncan, on the 18062-S model, the S designates 'Steel'. This model has a steel upper, the other is aluminum. The steel model is 1.1 lb heavier, at 29.8 lbs. The aluminum is 28.7 lbs. Other than that, they are the same. Stay safe & have a great day!

Hi Duncan and welcome back. There are 29 inch and 20-inch versions. The two at Buds, the 18062-S has a "Steel" Upper and the 18062 has an "Aluminum" upper that saves 1.1 lbs on the 18062. Both are 20-Inch barrels. For long term durability, I would opt for the S or "Steel" upper Rifle. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
