I got my "new" S&W 686 and it was kinda dirty and the side panels were scratched up. The gunsmith at the receiving FFL store asked me if I bought it used. This was sold as a new gun so not sure what to think.

Hi Michael and welcome. Some have complained of this very thing. Seems like your only recourse is to inspect the firearm before completing the transfer paperwork to get a replacement firearm or refund. Cheers and stay safe!

Hopefully you didn't complete the transfer yet?? If you didn't,  have your FFL contact Buds for either an exchange or refund. If you transferred then you're going to need to contact S&W for help.
