Is the laser activated by pushing the red button on either side of the pistol? Does it stay on until turned off (or automatically 6 minutes later)? Can the laser be turned on unintentionally by movement inside a holster or clothing pocket?

Hi David and welcome. Laser activation is ambidextrous. In the event your VIRIDIAN is accidentally left on, it will 
shut down in approximately 10 minutes after a brief 
warning period. If you wish to keep the power on, simply 
press either button. This will reset the power down timer. The only way to activate is to push the activation button. This will not happen in a quality holster. Cheers and stay safe!

My friend has this model with laser. You'll need to depress the red button on either side to actuate the laser. It will power down if accidentally depressed within about 10ish minutes.
