with 8rd cylinder, are there limitations on cartridge loads? also, is 5in actual bullet travel or is description counting comp.?

357mag, and 38 special, 38 special+P.  Smith says it is a 5" barrel.  It comes with a thread protector.

no any sammi spec 357 or 39 special will be fine including +p ammo
