Hi John, no sir, according to the owners manual, always use ammunition that complies with the industry performance standards established by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute, Inc., of the United States (SAAMI). There is no 45-70 Gov't that is SAAMI standard. Stay safe & have a great day!

Hi John and welcome. Unfortunately, for warranty and safety reasons, Rossi does not recommend firing +P ammunition. Just standard SAAMI pressure loads. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
