No, the S&W Model 642UC .38 Special 1-7/8" 5RD XS NS is not designed to use moonclips. Moonclips are primarily used with revolvers chambered for cartridges with a rebated or flat case mouth, like .45 ACP or 10mm, to aid in extracting the spent casings. The Model 642UC uses the standard rimmed .38 Special cartridge, which does not require moonclips for extraction,
